Which real leaf springs? Carli, thuren, Lorenz
I think any of those choices will steer you straight. They all get the springs set up to their own specs by Deaver. Going with a full replacement will reduce your towing capability down to a 1/2 ton but you can regain some stability with air bags if you choose to tow in the future. From what I understand the real advantage in new rear springs is in the shocks and how they are tuned. You want to go with guys who know how to tune shocks. I would recomend Thuren and then Carli. Thuren is supposed to be one of the best if in the industry for tuning to specific needs. You will need to spend some money on the shocks to make the springs worth it. Your looking at 1000 for springs and 300 to 400 apiece for shocks done right. If you go cheap you will get what you pay for. I currently I have deaver overload replacement packs with 5100 bilstiens. I like them, I retained my 3/4 hauling ability but it got rid of all my spring wrap and it really soaks up expansion joints. When the money is there, I want up grade to full packs and shocks. I'll shop Thuren and Carli when I do. Let us know what you decide and how you like them.
That's the way he is. If another company has the superior part,he'll refer you to them. You can be assured though that if the demand is there he'll be producing it shortly .
