I run a Beltronics Vector995. Works great for me, lots of heads up for the most part. As far as who's best, not sure but I'm sure there will be a number of opinions.

I have both the V1 and the Escorts. I believe them to be equal on radar and I believe the Escort is better at picking up laser that is not aimed directly at you. If laser is aimed at you it does not matter if you detect it or not, you are simply busted.

Now if you want to spend a little more then get the SR7 from Escort. THe radar is a little better than the 8500 as it is remotely mounted but, it has a laser jammer and it absolutely works. This is an active laser jammer not a passive jammer.

Also just for the record laser jamming is legal due to the fact that it is controlled by the FDA and not the FCC.

Also another little known fact is that our dealers can supply any of the escort parts to you or we will sell Escort stuff direct. Pretty sad that I buy enough radar equipment personally that we are a dealer! We are not allowed to post pricing on the internet other than retail pricing but, I can tell you that we will sell it to you for less than retail.

Valentine 1 but it seems like that and the 8500 are about the same so I would just take your preference and see which one you can find cheaper
