Question On Cat. Converter
It seems to me that the converter would restrict the exhaust flow causing the egt's to stay higher than if the exhaust were free flowing. I know on my gas truck the converter was very restricting. Just wanting to know if anyone has experimented with this, and had any input on egt's with and without the converter.
Gotta be careful with that one though. The converter is not at all in the same category as the muffler. The converter is an emissions control device, and as such is covered under a slew of federal laws prohibiting it's removal. I personally would not tamper with it while the truck was still under warranty. Now, if someone makes a bolt on converter replacement pipe, where you can just bolt it back on, then by all means, do what you need to do, but if you have to cut it out, I would not.
