quad-tranny temp observation

quad-when i installed my commander a couple of months back. i emailed your tech to see why it took nearly 20 miles of driving to get the temp to rise form the 104 temp showing on the commander gauge. (it is winter here) they said it was normal for winter and suggested the new down load-which i have not done. the highest i could get my tranny temp to read was 138 degrees in the location suggested in your directions.(port on side of tranny) that is also when we had a warm spell here for a couple of days-near 60 degrees .today- i installed the new tranny line i got from diesel manor. i put your probe in the line and took the truck out for a 5 mile spin in 25 degree temps. got the temp on the gauge up to 157 degrees!! the problem with the tranny temp readings with the commander is the port on the side of the tranny! not a good location in my opinion-after my brief observation today.

i don't want higher tranny temps- i want accurate tranny temps!!!. i have been driving for 20 miles before the gauge would budge off of 104 degrees. took the truck out this morning after relocating the probe and temps went up to 157 degrees after 5 miles- so i obviously was not getting a true reading before!!!!
sixpack73- i bought it form dieselmanor.com. here is the link

I got the tranny line from dieselmanor when I ordered my guages from them. Works very well. Guage doesn't budge in the winter when truck is empty, but its darn cold up here. I don't use any kind of cover on the engine front either. Anyways, I really like the tranny line. Easy install and looks clean.

megafast- interesting. mine budged this morning for the first time. truck was cold and empty. winter front was open. temp was around 25 degrees- so, you must be talking about some single digit temps/wind chill temps!

Yep, single digits and below and running down the highway. Really cold winter this year. Anyway, the guage reads fine and temps run 135 or more at cruising speed with 40-50 degree weather. It just warmed up this week into the 60's and 70's, but trucks been parked for a few days. I do know the guage is not only accurate, but reads better in line because if you romp on it to pass, temp comes up. More of an instant reading on what the tranny is doing in my opinion. Not a regular temp reading of the fluid in the pan. Its seeing how bad you are or aren't cooking it!
