well im getting my leveling kit put on tomorrow and i am thinking about getting the extreme all terrains 35x12.50x17, i have get bfg's 285/70/17 and i just want to go a little bigger, what do you all think about the pro comps and how they wear?...

 

I hope some people respond to this , because I am in the same boat...I want the pro comp extreme muds or even X terrains.

 

I have a set of procomp X all-terrains with about 9,000 mi on them. The ride is good,the handle is great,they are wearing very even,(rotate every oil change) but they're about half shot already.

 

I`m also considering the Xtreem A/T s , and am shocked to hear your`s are wearing that fast

 

my cousin has the x terrains. I couldn't talk him into the bfg's. The pro comps are kind of soft and run light on their load rating's. The guy he got them from didn't recomend them for a diesel. Check the load ratings before you decide on what you want.

 

The xtreme all terrains are awesome. I have 23k on them and they still have at least half tread.

 

thats what I mean. I have over 40k on my bfg's and still half the tread left. I still had the mold marks on the tread unti 7k. Thats pretty good for a mud tire.

 

If you do a search here, the only ProComps that wear well are the Xtreme ATs.

 

I have the Extreme 37" AT's and no complaints. About 10K miles and minimal wear. They ride good and are very quiet.

 

My wife has Xtremes on her 05 (pics in gal) (35X12.50's) and they have about 48,000 miles on them and there getting pretty well worn out. I myself like the way that they look but wouldn't have them on my truck. They are loud and don't handle in the wet very good. I don't know how well they work in snow, we run studded snow tires in the winter. I have had 6 sets of the regular AT's on my last 3 trucks and they aren't nearly as cool looking but they last WAY better and aren't nearly as loud. I have always gotten 60,000 or more miles out of the AT's and have 6 more at the shop waiting to get put on my dually.

I ran ProComp tires on my truck (33' M/T's) and they were shot after 20k. Made more noise on the road than my BFG M/T's.

I didn't post to this thread because most have stated correctly about ProComps IMO. But, after this last post....

I've ran ProComps for at least 15 years on several different trucks. All of them have been Xtrerrains though and not the AT's.

The reason I've ran them so long is because they're are a very quality tire that works well in all conditions. IMO, they aren't loud at all but, if compared to a stock tire... of course they'll be louder.

I race with my 37's which BTW are " E " rated tires. If anyone has seen videos of my truck, you've seen the several burn outs I've done with them also. There have never been chunks missing from doing that or for any other reason.

Now if you want a cheap very poor thread wear tire... just go get yourself some Nitto Grapplers I put a set on my work van less than a year ago and the thread is about gone. They had very poor traction in the sand and/or rain. Keeping in mind my work van is 4x4 and doesn't have near the power my truck does. I couldn't imagine having them on my truck.

Ok, I just wanted to relay my $.02 about ProComp. IMO, they're one of the best wearing and priced tires out there.

 

Any of the tire manufactorers can let bad tires get to the user. How the dealer handles it is what matters. You are more likely to run into a bad tire from someone that cantracts their brand out and doesn't accually make tires. Problems usually happen when they switch manufactorers. I havn't had any trouble with 4 Wheel parts but from what I've been hearing I don't believe I want anymore to do with them or their tires.

 

I'm running 325/65/18 X-terrians on mine, the guy I bought them from said he had about 25-30k on them already and I have probably put 10k or maybe a little more on them and there is still quite a bit of tread left, probably another 10k or maybe more. He didn't do a good job of rotating them so 2 are worn more than the other 2.

They're not as noisy as I expected and they look great too. I was going to go with the xtreme AT when these wore out, but now I am seriously considering just buying 2 new Xterrains and calling it good.

Mine are siped as well, thought I should mention that. Previous owner said they didn't do too well in snow and rain prior to having that done, but loved them after. I don't know what they were like before, but they hooked up great in everything I have thrown at them so far
