Question Powdercoating Colors for Thuren Parts

I am looking at powder coating some Thuren shock towers, track bar, and front springs and would like to get some feed back on color choices. My truck is a white Megacab and I was originally thinking about a standard semi-gloss black but then I thought a grey hammertone would be cool. I also am not apposed to brighter colors like reds or blues. I guess my problem was walking into the powdercoat shop and looking at all the color choices, so that is why I am asking for your help.

Thanks for your imput,

How about a nice bright Kawasaki green. I bet it would look pretty sweet on a white truck, and different from a lot of others out there to boot! Then under the hood get a green air intake filter and some green silicone tubes for the air lines etc... White/Black/green would look sharp if done tastefully.

I did see that color at the shop but I am more of a KTM fan but I don't think I could do either orange or lime green.

I think you should think about your decsion and not jump into anything. Cause like nriver says, once you start if you decide you don't like it in the middle of your theme, it will be hell to change and expensive.

Good luck. O I think I would vote for the hammertone gray, it looks good on the ProComp stuff.

I did go with hammertone black for my towers. Lorenz has a few options, at least when I purchased.

as for changing themes, I started with Black and Chrome. Well, that changed 2 years into the truck. Then Black and Black. Now Black and some Chrome.

I think I spent more money on changing the look than some of the mods.

I had my H2s, towers and reservoir mounts all coated to match. The actual color is called "Way Black" but it is a glossy smoke grey. I figured if I'm paying to have coating done I might as well do something with some color, even if it is grey. I felt like I was getting ripped off if I did them black, like black should be free or something

So Weird

I just got all my parts in the mail yesterday and thinking the exact same thing. I was just going to paint everything black, but I didn't realize the coils were bare. This morning I've been looking for a place to get the powder coating done here in Houston. My truck is inferno red so I was thinking red or silver would be cool.

I thought I had seen a color that was similar to inferno red at the powdercoaters. That would be cool. With the towers and coils I am trying to not have a color that takes away from the looks of the shocks and reservoirs. I am trying for a color that actually makes them stand out.

That "Way Black" seems like a cool color, I might have to walk across the street and check it out. Fab Fours uses these guys to do there powdercoating for their bumpers and such. They use kind of a flat tectured black that is pretty cool. Prior to powdercoat it gets a zinc primer spray to help reduce corrosion.

I'm doing the same with mine but, I never even though about a color. The rest of the undercarriage is black and that's what color I'm doing by linkage. You're asking for the nicks, scratches and scraps to show up if you go with any other color. IMO, that wouldn't take long to happen and then you have some buggered up linkage showing.

BTW.... Inferno red is a custom color for powder coating. My shop talked with the PPG rep about getting some for me for other components only to find out it has to be custom made and can only be purchased in 5 gal bucket amounts. That would have cost a fortune, especially since it would have only taken a couple cups of it to do what I wanted.

I also have a Fab Fours bumper that is powder coated like mentioned above. It's pretty thick and textured so, I don't know how well it would work on the linkage. It really wouldn't match anything else under there.

I think that your right about the nicks and scratches with colors, even black would do the same especially glossy finishes. I keep coming back to this tectured black that Fab Fours uses, I think it would blend in well with the rest of the undercarriage and probably hold up well.

Bedliner

Would sprayed on bedliner work on the coils? Black..textured...tuff... but does it flex?

For coils I'd just paint them.
