p.s. Jason, that 1st gear change is killing your 60'!
With that clutch and tire size, you should be coming out of the hole in 3rd... at least 2500RPM. You're easily leaving a couple tenths on the table... (Don't make me get Nelson to show you how! [nonono]) :o[coffee][laugh] |

I know next year I am going double disc and 3rd gear out of the hole. I shift during the 60' which really kills the holeshot. Rowing in the autos..... 1 shift at a time. [laugh] |
Hey Matt, where ya been man?

At your power level, with those tires & clutch - you should be leaving in 3rd.
|
Cancel that - you got a 4500, don't you?
|
Yep, NV4500 5 speed. I need to practice my launching, I think my truck has some 1.9's in it with more pre-launch rpm, I was only revving to 2400 rpm or so.
|
I just turned 1,000 miles on my 3250 DD and tried a boosted launch once and it was quite a challange. I tried 2nd gear and it didnt leave that hard and felt slow. I left at 20 psi but the rpms were pretty low. Do I need to be at a higher rpm but the same boost in order to launch well? I'm thinking about getting an electric line lock. Will that diss-engauge quick enough for a good reaction time?
It would be cool if someone could post a "how to do a boosted launch" video and post it on youtube. |

It would be cool if someone could post a "how to do a boosted launch" video and post it on youtube. It should be pretty nasty, may even spin them in 4wd on dry road. Everything in the dash cubby will be launched into the back seat and some change spill out of the ashtray. [guitar] |
2.0 on 40's with 20's. [duhhh]
|
I may not fit in but have a 6spd and a cummins in a heavy truck so I should,
1.92, 4x4, 2nd, 33/12.50, 800, SBC Tripple Disc First time to the track for me, big charger just would not do a 3rd gear launch then only got two trys at 2nd gear and hit it pretty good on my last one. Few more run I think I could get it better. Was blowing off all 6 though out of the hole, I rev to 3800 and not quite dump the clutch but let it out so that it lets the charger light before its all the way out. |

Well guys, I ran a new personal best 60' time. I actually raised the air pressure in my tires to 65 psi front and 55 psi rear. This allowed me a little wheel spin at launch and prevented that momentary bog I got before turbo was fully spooled. I also clamped the front half of the main spring pack to try to minimize axle wrap. My second and third runs resulted in violent front axle hop and shook so much dirt off the underside of my truck that I was asked to leave. It's not fair to make everyone else wait 20 minutes for the sweeper to clean up my mess! |
