Possible Jake Brake for 2004.5 through 2006 Automatics

Got a call from my salesman, who is also my best friend, so I know this is for real what he was told.

He recieved a package from Dodge today that said they now have Jake brake exhaust brakes for the 2004.5 and up trucks. He has part numbers and all. It was a pretty big packet of material from what he said and he did not have the time to read all of the fine print.

I am wanting to know if anyone else has heard this. I thought that it was not possible right now, and would not be for another year or so.

I am not wanting to start any fights or get into any arguments, I am simply looking for any more info on this subject.

I know that is it is true, I think that I will be one of the first ones in line to get one for my '05. We are fixing to buy our first camper so the timing would be really nice.

Anyways, let me know if there is anything out there that I might be able to get my hands on to let Matt know if his info is good or not, and if I should tell him to order me one.

Thanks a bunch guys and gals and this site rocks!

Ahhh sorry I didn't catch that you guys were wanting it for trucks prior to 06. The truth is Dodge won't OK until they made some changes to the ECM and some other stuff.

I work as a tech for a dodge dealer ,and yes it is true dodge does make a factory e brake for 05 06 dodge diesels we have instaled four of these e brakes they work very good .the only thing that i don't like about it is it has a push pull switch mounted to the shifter lever to activate the e- brake

so dodge is warranting the 2005 48re trucks with a jake brake now??? What kind of computer programming is needed to accept these changes? any? Will it also give us our OD lockout again? im so full of questions i could blow!

BTW, you got me happier than Rosie O'Donell in a buffet full of Ho Ho's

there is no computer programing that needs to be done just put on e- brake a vaccum pump new belt and splice into a wire that is under fuze box that goes to pcm and this will let the e-brake work and wire up swith to on shifter handel to activate e-brake that is it now go eat them HO -HO'S

Could you get the service bulletin number and we could check with our local dealers. It is easier to ask if you have a number . We all have waited for DC to supply one. Thanks Stackerman

Are we sure that the buletin is talking about the auto's. Because you can get one for the stick but as far as I know not the auto. The price I saw from the dealer was $1300. or so. But I don't think that was installed. I would love an exhaust brake as I am neering the second brake change on my truck at 50k. The first ones were done at about 20k I think.

I just picked up some parts from my local dealership and they had the papaerwork\brochures sitting out on the counter for 04.5+ Autos. Covered under warranty and all. It even talked about the low monthly cost of owning one if it were purchased as an option on new vehicles....
