Popping out of Exhaust @ high RPM

I'm running TNT with Timing 2, & @ high RPM I get a popping/rappy sound out of the exhaust. RP is good, so I know it isn't that. Truck pulls hard, & runs great, just wondering if my timing is too advanced, or if this is normal.

What happens on Timing #3 or 4? Does it do it with 1,3,5,7,9 or only the higher SWs?

Classic timing popping. You can verify by going to default timing, run an even numbered SW and see if it goes away. If it does, you have your answer. Then try timing 4... if no popping still try timing 3. If that works, stop, go no further... run timing 3. If it does pop still go back to 4.

I tryed Timing 3 today, & now I'm having trouble hearing what I heard the other day.My buddy in the passenger seat had the window down when I heard it passing a semi. Anyway, I now know that it only seems to do it when pulling hard T/C locked up about 3000+ rpm's. It sounds more like a raspy exhaust note than popping. I put it back to Timing 2 again, & it didn't seem to change at all. Maybe I was hearing things the other day. Truck runs a lot better on TM 2, than Tm 3. On Tm 3 it smoked a little more, & didn't pull as hard either. Also didn't bring the boost up to where I normally see it on Tm 2. Built a little faster maybe, but top lost about 1-2#.

Alright. I set it to Timing 4, & then 3, & then 2 again, & ran up the same hill all three times from 0-80 mph. Boost was always about the same high on TM2 of 41#, low on TM3 @ 39.6#, & TM4 was @ 40#. EGT was the same too, 1335-1360* , & the higher the timing, the raspier the exhaust sounded. But no "popping" that I could hear with the window rolled down 1/2 way on the pass. side. There ws also a hill to bounce the noise off of, but I still couldn't hear the noise I heard when I passed the semi. I guess I was hearing things. Or it was coming from the semi. I don't know.

How could you hear anything with the window down. You would have to wait until your ears melted/thawed out... Window open in Washington in the winter...Just not right Big Wheels94
