Phat shaft 62mm ??

Hey Im thinking of buying a used Phat shaft 62 mm silver series turbo. Was wondering if it will be enough for my mods ? I have a 06 5.9l With 90 hp sticks, edge w/attitude, intake, dual 4" exhaust, bd intercooler, bd trans, Im looking to hit the 550hp mark . Will I get there without overly high EGT's ? What boost # will i see , Im hitting about 43 psi with stock turbo and running around 1400 degrees at wot.
Thanks

First, you say Phat shaft and silver series. Which is it? Those are two very different turbos. (There is also a super phat shaft) The turbos are mostly differentiated by their turbine size. The phat shaft is a 65mm turbine. The silver 62 uses a 74mm turbine.

Assuming you are looking at a silver 62, yes it will handle 550 no problem. Expect a fair amount of lag over what you are used to seeing now. EGTs will be lower at the top end, but a little higher at the low end and cruising. The silver is a high performance top end turbo... not a towing turbo.

Boost #'s are a little irrelevant in this comparison. What you get is dependent on fueling too. Expect to see, in your case, about 45psi. But it is a much different 45 psi than the stocker and that is why the egts will be greatly reduced. It is due to a much more efficient and free flowing turbine and a denser/cooler flow of air. Even though overall boost is close.
