nah, it's easy. most guys are studying the thread, building thier own.

the only difference, is the intensity of the lighting if you build your own,
how to tell:
shine lights on a wall, turn on your relay system, and note the dimness.
hit the OEM cargo switch, and the fogs are much brighter.

the modules i built were not like that, they had full capacity (50amp relay & massive Diodes) but that's not really important, just that they do light up.


this the BEST mod you can do to your truck.

i went out to check the oil last week, just pulled the dipstick, clicked on the perimeter lighting, and held the dipstick down in front of the fog lite

i use it everytime i unload the bed, enough light reflects to see what you are doing.

i use it when i move trailers around at night, just leave the cargo light switch on, and that lights the whole area around the truck & trailer, so I know where the silly dogs are.

your wife will LOVE it when she does holiday shopping and mall is packed and folks are getting robbed.

2 fuses - use female terminals to wire up (tape in between the terminals)
1 relay
bunch of terminals for relays
24 feet of wire (6 for signal, 6 for each out put)(diff colors is bestest)
bag of assorted heat shrink
electrical tape.
enough diodes to do the job (you will want 2 of each if you use the Radio Shack parts listed, 2 6 amp diodes= 12 amps of current)

and i found a big power diode to make it 3 legs.

i found out this is good for plugging in the block heater too.

i backed up to garage to load up the ebay junk for this week, and front was in dark. i lay the heater plug inside the front bumper, in tthe bottom lip, since i took off the tow hooks.

(it was almost down to 40 this morning....)
actually, the block heater helps the defroster pretty good.

 

had one relay go bad, gonna mail out a replacement tomorrow.

Cool!!! Thanks. Do you (or anyone else) know if the 2nd output leg on this kit that powers the reverse lights also powers reverse lights on the trailer wiring harness? I have a pair of white night backup lights that I want to be able to turn on with the cargo light switch... that's my primary goal actually. The perimeter lighting would be secondary.

Dustin, you would have to follow the Reverse lead from the OEM backup lights up into the harness, and see where the +12v for the trailer wiring harness is developed.

if it is developed off a splice, it would power that.
it if developed off software or a relay, it would not.

either way, IIRC, you could power most anything of those legs.

Get Fisherguys from him. He will never know what he missed. I could not afford to keep making them, the parts were pretty expensive, esp considering running all over town to pick them up

these were HEAVY DUTY with the best relays and diodes I could find, because most guys were putting them to work. one relay failed, but i think it must have been a manufacturing defect. i am still amazed that no aftermarket firm makes these.
