Ordering a tranny - have questions.

I am going to order a Goerend Tranny tomorrow.

I have a Smarty Jr POD, quad Commander (half functional), 295/70/17's and sometimes tow a 12K lb trailer.

I have no ambitions to drag race or pull sleds. Just have fun on the street and not worry when towing the horses over the mountains.

Do I need to upgrade any tranny components or will their standard tranny be fine. I do not want to have to go through this again. What questions are they going to ask that I need to think about ahead of time?

Thanks,
Nathan

Get an upgraded flexplate and a billet input shaft to go with the converter and VB. Tell Dave exactly what you are going to do with the truck. I also pull a horse trailer and would recommend the 15 Blade left cut TC. It is perfect in my opinion. Great feal starting off, no comparison to the stocker.

^^^^What he said!^^^^

I would definitely do the billet input as I've heard of guys breaking them quite frequently. I just did the flex plate in mine because I've heard of them breaking even more often!

Dave will get you set up with what you need.

Tell Dave what you're going to do with the truck and listen to his advice. IMHO though, the billet input is a fabulous upgrade if you plan to run extra HP. This along with upgraded clutchpacks will make a tranny that will last a very long time.

If you are going to all the trouble of ordering a new trans, might as well build it to the hilt the first time.
