Okay guys, I am ready to up grade and I have several different people telling me go with this tranny or that tranny. The two I am looking at are of course Goerend and Sun Coast. So guys which one??? What are the differences between them? Help.......

of the two listed I personally would go with Goerend because he stands behind his product. I have heard that suncoast's warranty is pretty much non existant anymore due to new people running it.

Personally, i have dealt with goerend (great guy) but i run a DTT. My DTT is putting up with a 8000 lb truck laying down over 800 horse and im not nice to it. Reality is proof

I have a Goerand and I would highly recommend it. Now I just got the Goerand after my Suncoast failed after 8 months. 8 months and no sled pulling and no passes at the drag strip. Oh yea no warranty either. When I called them and explained very nicely and clearly what happened I was interrupted by ron telling me that nothing would be warrantied. He did offer sell me all the parts or another trans...
Go with the Goerands!!!

I can speak to my experience and that of others I know. I am putting over 900rwhp through my Goerends that was built for 500 hp. It is as tight today as the day I bought it 2 years ago and 30k hard miles later. I have had zero issues. When it's that good you don't worry about warranty or cust. service, but it is nice to know Dave's the best in the biz if you do have an issue. Ask any of his customers.

Being on these forums as much as i am I have never seen too many Goerand problems, and his name has been highly praised. Something that expensive you don't want to screw that decision up.

I said this before, I am sure there is more than one builder who is good. I bought into the customer service praise for Dave and that is why I used him. Now that I have his trans, man I am glad I did. After almost a year after I had the trans, I decided I didn't like some things my valvebody was doing. Been that way the whole time, just decided I didn't like it now. I talked to dave he said "I have made a lot of updates since I built yours, I will send one out see what ya think", then I told him I had a leak and it was either the trans output seal or transfer input seal. The valve body shows up with a new filter and both of those seals. I never paid I dime. I called and asked him about it and he said don't worry about it. Then he said I will send for the valvebody. I said no, since it was my decision I will pay to ship it back. He has emailed me twice asking how I liked it. SO far I have 38,000 on the trans.

Oh, this whole thing started when I was in Iraq and Dave made sure he was available a couple times based of emails so I could call from Iraq to discuss my trans. Then he worked with my wife to ensure it was at my house the day before I was to get back from Iraq. Super guy.

Just my .02cents.
