i tow 10k plus about 80 percent of the time.my truck is the 235hp version and i want it to tow a lot better.what are some good set ups to go with

I'm thinking a turbo or two. If you've got the cash go for twins. You'll be able to run the smarty on higher settings while towing.

Air bags made a big difference for me. No more sagging rear end.

i will have to stick with a single turbo

If you don't plan on anymore mods a htt 62/65/12, 13ss or 14 would be good. Maybe a 62/71/13 if you want a little more cooling. Nice thing is you can get them from Lary at the DTR store for a decent price.

One of the best mods I made for towing( 13k) in the mountains is a rear sway bar. I have a short box if you have a dually then you probably ok. check out Al Corr sway bar and air bags.

yes i could use both those items.im still looking for more power as i am lacking in that department.

If you want more usable power a turbo and lift pump is in your near future. Just be very careful what you buy. Twins would be best, but a 62/65/13ss would be good.

Definitely a turbo, the stocker is less than adequate for what you want. A pressure box like an EZ or TS MP will work nicely with the Smarty and give the engine good kick. A set of 25 or 50 HP injectors will help also.

Might want to consider a fuel system upgrade also.

If you get near any mountains an engine brake is a must have!

Im running a HTT 62/14,Smarty,GDP392, and pull a 11k trailer in the mountains not flat ground and have plenty of power. During the summer EGT's can get high on 10% grades but, I still have plenty of power.

marlbroman Sep 7, 2008 01:45 PM

X2, air bags are great for towing heavily.
