Nitto terra grappler tire size?

I have an 06 2500 mega cab 5.9

Have the factory 17" forged wheels not sure width 8.0 or 8.5?

I may do a small lift at a later date 2.5 front level and a 1" rear block.

295 70 17 D 123 load $700 shipped
285 75 17 E 121 load $720 shipped
305 70 17 E 127 load $870 shipped

the 305 is another $150 more that the other two but may be worth it, 285 75 is .500 taller than the 295 but .500 narrower.

will do little offroad and some towing 10,000 lbs toy hauler.

Let me know thoughts or experiance.

Thanks

Stay away from the D range tires if you are going to be towing something that heavy. I think the 305s will look the best with that kind of lift. Might rub on the control arms with the stock wheels though.

Stay away from the Nitto Terras ....... I have them on my 1500 Ram and they are not holding up at all. I have 5,000 miles of Highway 70% and BackRoads 30% and NO Spinning and they are 50% GONE ..... No way they will hold up on a MEGA.... Get the Dura-Grapplers or for a AT Tire get the BFG-TA/KO's.... Much better as far as durability......

I am very happy with my Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75/17 'E' rated tires. Wear is good so far with about 13K on them IIRC. I too, pull a toyhauler.

I think that size is the best all around size tire for our trucks. I downsized from 35'' BFG Mud Terrains and picked up about 2-2.5 MPG. The 285/75/17s are a good all around compromise between looks, performance, mileage etc.

I went with Toyo but size wise the 285/75 is perfect for me. Holds almost 4k per tire, not as wide so as the 305 which should be better on icy roads and tall enough over stock to lower the R's on the hiway.

I am going to go with the 285/75/17 terra grapplers if I can ever wear out my stock BFG's that came on it new. They have a little over 70,000 miles on them and still have some decent tread left. With the Nitto's stay with the E rating and they will last quite a while or so I have heard.

i've got the "e" rated terra grapplers on my truck utilizing the stock alloy rims. i believe they are only 7.5" wide for the rim if not mistaken. the sticker on my driver's side door end listed the dimension. these tires, while look nice due to the taller profile do not last as long as the stock bfg's. they have done well in terms of even wear (i rotate every 5k). they'll probably go 40k or a bit more before i'll need new set (i got 60k on the stockers). i tow a toy box that goes 9k or more and they do good. they needed to "settle" for the first part of the first tow. there was a little bit of sidewall wobble, but went away after a half hour's time........

Looking at the specs on the website the 285 75 17 is nearly identical in hight to the 305 70 17 just not as wide, is there any benifit to the extra width or is narrow better, I think ether will work well on the stock cast wheels since I have seen the 315 70 17 on them and also on the standard chrome steel weels that I think are narrower.

Another option is the nitto Dura grapplers, more of a street tread, but are meant to last, pulling my 10,000lbs Raptor trailer thru some muddy motocross parking lots is most likely the worst off road I will be doing, they may not look as good, they come in the 285 75 17 size also.

I'm on my second set of 295/70/17 Terra Grapplers and couldn't be happier with them. This set now has exactly 50,000 miles on them at this time and I should be able to get another 5-10k out of them. I run 65 psi cold in the fronts and 58 psi cold in the rears. I rotate them about every 10k miles. My truck has 118k on it now and still has the factory alignment and everything in the front end. I tow my race car about a dozen times a year on either an open deck trailer (6,000 lbs total) or a 34' box trailer (11,000 lbs total). I see no problems with these tires, even with the D rating they carry.
