New Helix 2 Cam And Springs
New Helix 2 Cam And Springs
Well Tim at TRE DIESEL hooked me up with a new helix 2 cam and F1 valve springs this past weekend that completed my buildup for now. On the drive home from Virginia Beach I had a LOT of fun. I have noticed an immediate difference most prominently in reduction of EGT's in high fueling situations. With my Smarty on 5 EGT's stay under 1400 in most situations with the exception of flooring it going up a big grade starting at below 2000 rpm, which is saying a lot with the injectors that I have. Most of all now I have a piece of mind in letting the monster rev all it wants without worrying about valve float with the new springs. On my 600 mile trip home, running 75-80, sometimes 105
I averaged 17.5 mpg. I am pretty sure I can manage 18-19 if I keep it under 70, yeah right. I think that is pretty good considering at that level I am probably driving around with 500-550 rwhp. Now all I have to do is get on a dyno sometime this year to see if I have hit my goal of 600 rwhp, which I am pretty sure I have done, this thing pulls like nothing I have ever been in. It is flat out awesome to be going up a big grade at 70, punch it, and have your guts push the seatback and hit 100 with reasonable EGT's. I will report back with more impressions after a few more miles. Thanks Tim and Tim C. Jay

Took a another trip last weekend to my parents house about 300 mile trip up I-75, ran smarty on 5 and 7 round trip averaged 17.99 mpg. I am very impressed with my setup and am finished with my buildup for now. Still having problems with my dipricol rail gauge which is replaced with a new one, it reads erratically every since I put to cp3 on, but I can't complain, tons of power and no CEL's. The cam and springs were definitely worth it. I even had some fun with a crotch rocket, yeah he took me, but he was surprised when I was keeping about 2-4 carlengths behind him from 65 to about 90. I gotta be careful, already one ticket in the past couple of weeks. Jay
