New Clutch Won't Go Into Gear!

I put a HAISLEY MACHINE TWIN STREET DRAG clutch in my 04 2500. We followed the instu. to a T ! After the install was done and the truck was put back togetother I started it and tried to put it in 2nd gear, it WILL NOT go in to ANY gear w/the truck running. I upgraded the hydr. w/ a SBC. and it did not help any think.

If anyone has any suggestions I would GREATLY appreciate it!

Thanks Chad

I would check travel of the master rod and slave and make sure the clutch is disengaging correctly.

Also I would make sure you set the shims up correctly if that was part of the install.

I would also give Haisley a call. If you can't get ahold of them my next step would be to call Peter as he is a clutch guru and could answer your technical questions on the Haisley clutch as well.

Did you try adjusting the pedal by turning the threaded rod on the hydraulic upgrade?

Try going into 3rd or 5th before going into second.

Try feathering the pedal slightly as your going into gear as well.

If none of that works, then something's wrong.

If you have had the master and slave off, be sure you bled the system good. Sounds like you maybe trying to compress air in the line which would limit the stroke.

I put the shims back in the way they came on the clutch, I have adjusted the rod on the pedal, and I bougth the hyd. upgrade new and put it in w/out cutting the tabs that hold the rod down. SO, when that didn't work I bleed the system.
I have tried everything to get it in ANY gear, w/no luck!

I tried to call HAISLEY, but couldn't get though. Guess I'll have to keep trying!

Thanks CHAD

Chad did they ever call you back?? I talked to Haisley and they told me they would call you...did they ever call you back?
those hydros are supposed to stay sealed you should not need any bleeding.

something is wrong..either it was damaged in shipping and you did not notice it or it was damaged on install....something isnt right and unfortunately the trans will need to be pulled back to see what going on..

If you put it in gear and start it, does it stay engaged? If you have even the slightest high spot it will drag and wont go into gear. I had a feramic clutch do that and I just worked the clutch a few times after that and it was ok. Make sure there is nothing in front of you when you try this as it may be hanging up a lot more than a little bit

I know the new hydo. are seal and shouldn't need bleeding, but I'm had to try to get it work.

Yes, it will stay engaged if I start it. I tried to drive it and see if it would wear just alittle, All w/no luck!

Thanks for the help so far! CHAD

I hate to say it, but if your hydros are bled right and the pedal does not feel spongy you need to pull the clutch and see whats wrong. I know it sucks but it needs done, you have exhausted all the other options for the failure.

I'm just waiting for the weekend so I can get some friends to help me take it back apart.

Thanks CHAD

? When you torqued all the pressure plate bolts in a criss cross patern Did you go back over all of them again, alot of times once you torque one and then torque the other one next to it it will take tension off the first one you torqued leading it to not be at the right foot lbs as you thought it was.Seen it happen before.

Yes I checked and went over all the bolts when I torqued they down.

I did get to talk to Van that HAISLEY, and he told me what to look for.

So I got it out today and all of the bolts were torqued, all the shims all just like the ins. said, and I couldn't see any thing bent. (hubs or fingers) So I took it apart and the disk were in correctly. How ever the NEW flywheel look like some one hit it with a grinder! So I'm going to send it back and see what they have to say. I don't know what is wrong with it, I just know it won't work!

Thanks for every ones help! When I get it back I post up what they said was wrong w/ it and why it didn't work.

Thanks CHAD
