Need help installing boost gauge
I just bought an autometer pillar mount boost and egt gauge assembly. The question i have is, how do you install the boost gauge? There seems to be no where to connect that little hose, i have heard some people talk about installing them with the banjo fitting. What is a banjo fitting and where would i get one? Where is the best place to install the gauge? Intake horn?

You can get a boost bolt. A number of places carry them. I got mine from Diesel Manor. It installs in the intake manifold by replacing one of the bolts.

I used the boost adapter, it made it really easy to install.

How do you attach the plastic hose to the boost bolt?
|
It comes with a compression fitting.

quick question. when replacing the horn back on the manifold, gaskets, where to buy, how much and what part number? and what torque should the bolts be tightened to? TIA doing this this weekend if i can.

make sure they are METALIC based gaskets or you will get a check engine light the grid heater is grounded thru the gaskets.. I bought mine from dodge for like $3.50 each.

i did not even get a new gasket is that bad?

well, i got it all installed ... took FOREVER! two trips later into town ... first mistake, i kinked the plastic line it came with. so there's a trip into town for fittings and air line .. well they didnt have any vacuum line so im using fuel line, no biggy ... well im 2" short! so there's another trip, thankfully i tried mounting my gauge into the pod w/ the fittings i had, and i was bottoming out, so i needed to buy two 90º bends. thankfully i know the manager at Advance Auto and got 5 fittings and 15 foot of fuel line for $5 LOL. now i know im makin 20 sometimes 21 psi of boost.
ALSO when i took off the intake horn, i loosened the 4 bolts and then loosened the clamp on the IC piping and the horn just kinda fell off of the intake heater, so im not sure if it was loose or not? i torqued it down to 20ft/lbs will that be enough? also, i wasn't sure if i should loc-tite them or just keep an eye on the bolts? Thanks for the help guys, i really do appriciate it! now im off to do the egt gauge .. woot!! |
