Need a clutch to hold all of this power!!!!

OK, after all of the coin I have dropped in adding the power, now I need a clutch to be able to use it .

I want to hear all suggestions/opinion's, how much you paid for it, where did you get it from, how much power you are abusing it with, life expectancy.......you name it, I want to hear it.

My truck currently has what is in my sig, and future upgrades will be the following:

SPS 66 and Injectors. My truck is my daily driver and work truck.

I could care less about a "hard" pedal, I jsut need a clutch that will hold my power with reliability. I drive my truck hard. I did have knee surgery, and did think I was going to need an auto, but my knee is recovering very nice, so I am good to go there. So, anyways, let me hear it guys, as I want to be able to use this power that I have

South Bend all the way! 3850 is what I have and I paid about $2400 with the hydraulic slave upgrade. It's good for 750HP in extreme sledpulling so figure at least 900 on the street.

Well, checking out Black Cloud Diesel's website, they carry South Bend, and after reviewing the brief ad, part # MU1947 Con FE would be what I would need from a power stand point, 550HP and 1100 Lbs Ft of TQ. However, I need to know if I can haul (20K+ LBS) with that clutch.

I also want to hear of other clutch's out there. What about Spec? Centerforce?

Come on guys, overload my brain with some info on a cluch.

South Bend Clutch....

The FE from SBC is a little on the grabby side. I advise you check into something like a 3600lb. 12 Puck Ceramic Dual Disk (from SBC of course).

OK, will do. I am sure South Bend is sleeping (as I should be ) so hopefully he can send me some info on the clutch.

OK, we got all votes for the South Bend, anyone want to chime in with another suggestion/opinion???

I have been testing the new 3400 lb plate load "sprung hub" desig that Peter is about to release. Zero grabbiness and a dual disk design also. I am very happy. The pedal is soft like a stocker and has a very smooth engagement. Big thumbs up to Peter at Southbend!

Stay away from a Luke clutch. It was rated for 500 or 550 hp and 1100 tq. It was not a good clutch!! When my stock clutch goes out on my 06, it will be a South Bend Dual Disc

OK guys, I am sensing that South Bend is highly recommended, and we have a 1 no vote for Luke.

OK, so, looks like I will be going with the Luke

Seriously, thanks for the input/info.

How long is a SBC going to last? (I know about the "Well, it depends on the driver, how much power, how much weight....") criteria. But is this a race only clutch, short life expectancy?

How about you guys that HAVE one in your trucks? How long has been in there? What power numbers are you putting down? Do you haul?

I need to find out these answers as like I said above, I want to do it right the first time, this IS my daily driver/work truck. So I would like to hear some real world facts.

Wap, PLEASE get back with me after your install, I am VERY curious to what you think. WE have had some good posts on thread that I have started, so anxious to hear back from you.

IMills, you have been "testing"? Is your truck the experimental for South Bend? How long has it been in your truck? Same thing: What numbers are you putting down? You hauling with this clutch?

Thanks a MILLION guys!!!!!

Southbend is the only way to go in my opinion. I have a Con FE in mine and I have towed close to the max GVWR of the truck with 400+ hp and it works well for me. I put the clutch in @ 12K. mi and now have 53K. Southbend rates their clutches conservatively, they can hold more than they are rated for isn't that right IMills?
