NEAPCO Brute Force U-joints????

Anyone use these? Part number for my truck is 2-0054BF for the rear shaft. It seems that almost all of the parts stores sell these and from what I understand there isn't but a couple places making u-joints these days. I was going to get the 2-0054 greaseable joints but the don't look very tough with that fairly large hole inside for the grease passage so I plan to get the "BF" or Brute Force ones that do not have a greaseable fitting. That or I'll get a set from Dodge, but at the cost difference and they seem to go bad under 100k miles anyway I wonder if the NEAPCO with the lifetime warranty would be worth it.

I use Spicer Originals only and they last for 100k provided you grease them and they cost $20 at a big rig truck parts house. I don't have the part number on me but someone on here will chip in...or you could do a search. ks

From what Quad 4x4 has printed on their Dodge driveshaft page the Spicer joint is .010" wider than our trucks use with the AAM joint. They do go in with a slight "bulge" or I should say "push out" on the circlips due to the increased length. They say that causes premature wear and I can see where that could happen. Is their info old or incorrect? They have a pretty informative page with pictures that seems to be correct. Mind you I would rather have the Spicer name brand but if NEAPCO fits better?????????

I don't know what the best answer is but I used all precison joints fron rockauto and they fit fine.

as far as the neapco brute force, I use them in my race car and they get abused and so far, so good.

On my last truck, a lifted Ford with horrible DS angles the Neapcos ruled, they would out last greasable Spicers by 3 times.

The Spicers are definitely a tight fit but if the yokes are cleaned up well then they do fit. To make it easier I've sanded the clips down to be flat on one side and then they slip right in....takes a minute. If the Neapco's are cheap...put them in. I don't think they will last for 300k miles though. Greaseables need to be lubed a couple of times per oil change for maximum longevity. If it rains alot or you are going offroad... more often. Non Greaseables...just toss every 30 to 50k. ks

Neapco has been around for a long time, maybe longer than spicer. they are a good quality product. if given a choice between the two, i would probably go with the neapco, but usually they are a bit more money than the spicers, at least they used to be. either way you cant go wrong with both companies products... just grease often. ...... Lack of grease is the most common factor when a u-joint fails.... (considering it's installed correctly)
