MPG increase with 50-60hp injectors??
#16
One must keep in mind that when you make a change to these engines, it takes several miles for the computer to re-learn the modification made. Fuel economy on my truck took over a month to improve with the 50hpDDPs.

Wildly better “computer” mpg after mods - not sure it’s real
just completed new intake, 50 Hp DDS injectors, & 4” exhaust on an 01 24v Cummins. According to the (stock) onboard computer my mpg has increased about 30%. But....last tank I did odometer/gallons used and it showed considerably less. Can anyone explain how the ecm calculates mpg and how the mods might affect it? Read in another topic that the computer will “learn” the effects of the mods and adjust. Is there any validity to that? ...with the stock ecm or just with aftermarket programmers?
I’d love to believe I got 19 mpg towing my 12k lb 5th wheel and 27 since but I’m not buying it yet.
the ecm was fairly accurate prior to the mods.
Thanks!
