First let me say, I've been a Baldwin filter fan for some time now. I use the Baldwin PF7977 fuel, BF1212 fuel, BF1173, inline strainer, BT7349 oil.

Now for the air filter does anyone have any information on which is the better filter; the new and improved Mopar 53034249AA filter, the Baldwin PA4162, or even maybe a Amsoil EAA189?

 

I know the subject has been talked to death, but I'm looking for hard numbers.

 

I use Baldwin everywhere,but have not used the air filter. I just installed the new mopar filter you have listed and the filter minder moves down just as far as it did with the drop-in K@N i had in it. I have used a baldwin air in my uncles 06 with no ill effects. My filter minder pulls down about 3/4 into the green indicator, so i am getting plenty of air. May try the baldwin next time. How much you pay for the baldwin,the mopar was $34 and some change. Hope this helps...Justin

Not trying to highjack, but where do you guys get the Baldwin PF7977 fuel filters? I can't find them anywhere.

 

I have been running Napa Gold/Wix 2846 air filters for 100,000+ miles. The 2846 is rated at 675cfm. My filter minder has never moved, even after 20,000 miles. I usually replace the filter every 15,000 miles.

 

I'd consider the new Airraid 8-layer drop-in available@ Geno's. I run the AFE PG7 but the new Airraid is much cheaper. While my AFE is drying I pop in a cheap Fleetguard stocker. The psm or Home Depot CAI mod permanently ended any movement of my filterminder. I don't think that thing is very useful as I went 18,000 miles on my PG7(way too long) and the fm hadn't budged. Oil analysis has been excellent with Blackstone telling me to go another 1500 miles next time.

 

If you have a Grainger near you, they sell Baldwin filters.

 

Same here, but only 20k miles so far. I may try the new Mopar filter next time, just to compare, but it's hard to beat the Wix at 675CFM. You'd have to be making 600hp to even come close to stressing it.

 

I really like the Napa Gold filter, much better then the Amsoil EAA189 filter I had on my truck. I took it off last month when I discovered dust was getting by it. The EAA189 also pulled the filter minder down in the red within a few days. I will never use the EAA189 again. I will probably get one of the new 53034249AA filters next.

 

I ran the Hastings air filter, (Baldwin). It was a little to restrictive in my truck. I would get more black smoke and higher egt's and it would peg out the filter minder every time I mashed on it. I went back to the Mopar filter. I do however run all Hastings filters everywhere else.

 

I like the EAA in my truck, but then it is a different filter being an older truck.
no dust or anything in the intake & filter minder doesn't budge.
mind you... pure stock.

 

I got the Mopar air filter on e-bay for $34 shipped to my door, best price I could find. And I also use Baldwin everywhere else.

 

I looked in the Yellow Pages and found a Heavy Duty truck parts store a few miles from my home. Went down talked with the salesman there and he now keeps all my filters in stock, also good pricing.

 

Are these EAA's recleanable filters like the K&N's?
