Misplaced Smarty
I have managed to misplace my Smarty S-06. My truck is currently programmed. What are my options in the event I cannot locate my Smarty?
|
You'd have to call Bob W to see if he can send someone near you with a smarty a recovery file to load your truck back to stock, or get the dealer to flash your computer back to stock, then find your smarty and reprogram it... don't know if you need a recovery file for that, or if it will work fine since it's VIN locked.
I'd call Bob before you did anything... |
Or your stuck with your current tune.... f-o-r-e-v-e-r
|
Is it in the little compartment under the middle front seat? I've lost so many things under there.
|
That is where I typically keep it. Don't remember loaning out for someone to check codes. I have searched the house numerous times thinking I brought it in for an update.
|
Would anyone have contact information for Bob?

Sorry, I had to do that. Bob should be able to hook you up with the best way to get this taken care of. |
Don't be mean... not everyone is a stud...

You can load any popular programmer right on top of the Smarty file, you can then use that programmer to return the truck to stock.

But how would it know what "Stock" is? All it would know for stock is what ever the Smarty program left it at. |
When I lose my cellphone, the wife calls the number and lo and behold it appears. Too bad you can't do that with the Smarty. I keep mine under the driver seat. Good luck.

because the "stock" programs are all stored in the programmer... they do not read the tune that's in the ECM, they only read the VIN and the engine calibration code. They store that information in them and when you return the vehicle to stock, they reference that VIN and ECM calibration code and completely re-write the file to the ECM using their stored files, NOT by copying and replacing the actual binary that's in the ECM.
