MBRP or Silverline?????

I am interested in purchasing an exhaust system for my truck. I'm looking at the MBRP and Silverline. Both are 4" 409 stainless turbo back exhausts. The Silverline is around $50 cheaper.

Is there any problem with the Silverline vs the MBRP? Both come with tips but the Silverline tip is double wall and the MBRP is single wall.

I have heard in the past that people have had a few issues with the Silverline mating up to the elbow coming off of the turbo. Is this still an issue?

Do they both fit well?

thanks
Dave

I Bought the MBRP in 409. The muffler itself it 304 stainless. Fit was perfect, but the 409 is no where near as corrosion resistant as 304. It will turn somewhat brown and get some pitting on it's surface. Not as bad as regular mild steel, but not as nice as 304. After about 150,000 miles my 304 muffler is fine and still looks good.

Don't know what truck you have, but if it's an '03 or '04, you might consider getting a 4" turbo elbow and upsizing your down pipe to a full 4" The after market kits neck their 4" pipes to 3 1/5 in at the turbo elbow. I wish I would have done this to accommodate a larger turbo and an exhaust brake.

Please don't waste your money on the poor quality stainless steel. I had MBRP 409SS and it and it drove me nuts. Pit rust like crazy. Put MBRP aluminized on my 2007 and it looks as new as the day I put it on. I could rant on longer but........
Just my .02...[redface]

Thanks for the replies. Seems like the 409 isn't that good after all. The only reason I was looking at the 409 is I figured it might last longer than the aluminized. I'm not concerned with it looking like a showpiece. Seems like maybe the aluminized will be just as good. I will look in to it.

Thanks
Dave

I put the Silverline 4" on 4 years ago ,everything lined up good and was easy install. Then again I also paid as much for my 409 kit as the aluminum kit is going for now.I do love the sound of my truck still with this kit.

I was under my truck twice a month with steel wool cleaning the MBRP 409 like a sweat shop worker!! I haven't touched the MBRP aluminum yet and it has been on for 2 years in our crappy Canadian climate. Just want to see you get your money's worth...

i have the silverline 4 inch and it went on fine and have not really had any rust issues although i am not too happy with the sound, i think i would go with something else next time around

Got soot,

Is your's a turbo back system? How is the sound. I don't want it to be terribly loud. I don't want to have a bad drone with the windows up.

thanks
Dave

yeah i have the turbo back system on my truck now and previous truck.. i think 5inch is perfect, it just gives the right tone and its not loud at all. if you like the deep big rig sound 5inch is just right..imo
