Max HP with stock ECM (No down loader or programmer)

My buddy want to see how much HP he can produce with his 07 5.9 without a chip, programmer, down loader, etc. More air in, more air out, more fuel, better turbo or twins, etc. What do you guys think the max HP is by doing these things and NOT messing with any of the electronics?

Myself, I think it is easier and cheaper to just by a 100HP programmer and you will still be ahead.

Will this stuff make more than 100 additional ponies?

Wouldn't it be harder to spool a larger turbo and bigger sticks without any fueling (programmers and boxes) mods? Not sure.... just wondering

With a modded cp3, and a set of 100hp stix, with a turbo.....probably about 390-420 on the ground. Anything more than that and you will probably have too start messing with electronics....

Well take it like this.... (King D) posted a baseline of 420hp before he tried the new VA C5 box. He has custom dual CP3s, 3 Flow injectors, custom fuel supply, billet tranny, intake, SPS66, and no telling what else.... Then he put the box on and made 760+hp. I would say he has about $10k in hard parts on that truck not including the tranny and made 120 more HP than stock, a 120hp box or programmer can be had for like $600...

Is he doing this to try and keep the warranty?

How could you keep the warranty if you have stix's, CP3's, different turbo, new tranny etc.??

It would be far easier to have a downloader like the smarty and then return it to stock before you go to the dealer and if they do find something, play dumb.

IMO

No, he doesn't care about the so called warranty. I think he just wants to do it to prove a point, that it can be done.

It is interesting to see how hard and expensive it is to make additional HP with hardware, but so cheap and easy to do it with software. Of course, I do understand that with the software that produces 100+ HP you need the supporting hardware.

That is awesome that King D gained 340 HP by adding the box after he all the other hardware installed.

Is that because they don't make software for the 12V?

I don't know much about the 12V's.

Wasn't it really difficult to get them even to 350HP?

he must have more cents than brains if hes going to literally be wasting all that moeny just to prove a point. not to say i havent gotten in peeing matches but when it comes to that amount of money and the low (relatively speaking) hp numbers he will have i just dont see the point. but its not my money so good luck!

12V are still the #1 diesel horse power holder. look at a serious sled puller...... hes not running a CR. One day they will be there, but not at this moment in time.

I think it really says something that software will get you more than hardparts on a CR. To me that means the stock hardparts are more "high performance" than we like to think.

By just changing hardparts you really aren't "tuning" the truck very well. You need to alter the ECM as well since it controls all of those hardparts. To me, just doing hardparts would be like lifting your truck 8" and keeping the stock tires/rims.
