Low budget

I have a 2005 2500 4x4 CC LB and I am wanting to know some low buget upgrades that I can do to up hp with out going crazy. I have 5 in exhaust in the works now just wanting to know what I can add with that. Any information will help

wreedCTD 03-28-2007 11:14 PM

intake
box

Why does every one go to 5" exhaust as a one of there first mods?

4" is more then good enough with a mufler delete or a good flowing mufler to handle any power your going to do on a budget.

S&B intake, Quad BF, Muffler (or delete even cheaper), and a box. You can do all this for under 1300 bucks. How much you spending on 5" exhaust?

Waste of money...

Should go..

Gauges
Good muffler or delete
intake or just change to a higher flowing filter
mild power adder

Heck...a Diablo/Quad/MP-8/used BDDL or something like that and a EGT gauge probably was the same price as the 5" exhaust and you could have 75-100 safe horses.

For a low budget unless your getting the exhaust for free you can get a muffler shop to remove the muffler and put the peice of pipe in for $75. Besides low budget doesn't neet 5". Save the money and put a nice 6" tip on!!!! Definately intake, whilly's whistler - $175 or less chip from classified's - PRICELESS!!! [laugh] [laugh]

the order of the mods should be:

1. box (quadzilla for mpg)
2. intake
3 exhaust

If you like your exhaust louder than stock just remove the muffler and replace it with a 4" pipe. Then drop in an Amsoil EAA189 filter. That should cost you about $100.

Next add a EGT gauge. Shouldn't be more that a $150 or so with SRT A-pillar mount.

Finally, pick up a used Quad XZT ($200 or so) or Xzillaraider Std. ($300 or so), Triple Dog ($350 or so) or something similar for another couple/few hundred.

oh i woudlnt do a 5" inch exhaust, it is a waste stick with the 4" like dodge gave you.

sorry guys for the confusion...

It's all about the classified's used juice w/ attitudes for way less than new and thier's your gauges. Or what ever you prefer I'm biased I live 5 minutes from Edge. Straight pipe it for $75 and Willys whistler their ya go!

Me too, I went from 4" straight to 5". I know I did/will not gain anything by goin to 5" in hp, but I did it for the sound and it was worth every penny. It now has a much nicer tone.

As mentioned, At least an egt guage, chop off the muffler, high flow filter and maybe swiss cheese the air box, and a used moduel or down loader of your choice.

Settle down big fella! He stated he had 5" in the works and I was really more making a blanket statement.

Now Back to the 5" exhaust. He asked for low budget HP upgrades.....

How is 5" exhaust a low budget upgrade? I understand you like the way it sounds and all but when I think low budget hp mods I think of spending the least amount of money for the most performance! 5" exhaust on a lightly moded truck is in no way a HP upgrade. Especialy when you can buy a box for that much and add 140+ HP.
