Loud knocking

I have a 2004 Dodge 2500 5.9 diesel. My engine has a extremely loud knocking at idle and low rpm. However when you rev it to about 1800 plus rmp the knock goes away. I have approximately 300,00 miles on the one motor. Anylp would be great.
