Looking for the right tuner.

I have a 2007 5.9L reg cab, and im looking to put a tuner in it. i have a k&n installed. i heard the diablo sport ones were pretty good, and heard mixed reviews for the banks and bully dog tuners, and today i came across theese smarty tuners, and suggestions?

Some guys like the Diablo... not me though, I had alot of issues with them.

What trans do you have and how much power do you want to make? What do you do with the truck?

I have been really happy with the smarty jr. Its perfect for what i want. if you get a built trans you could get the smarty cr. I would spend some time looking before getting one. Like what was said before, its all depends on what you want to do with your truck. Its hard to beat the smarty ;) www.smartypower.com

Sounds like the smarty jr might be a good fit for what you want. Use the search function and type in smarty jr first impressions. that thread has some good info. also if you have a 07 its a 48RE trans.

i read the threads, and thanks what is the difference b/w the 47 and 48 RE transmissions, with the smarty, would i have to buy that off the internet? what would you recommend for an exhaust, i've been seeing a lot of people with MBRP

48re was built a bit stronger...The Smarty can be bought off the DTR store (Lary Ellis, Top) or from Bob Wagner www.smartypower.com. They are a set price. For you truck, a full exhaust wouldn't be needed because you have a full 4 inch. I d say a good muffler or delete pie with some kitty work would yield you the same results.

Traction will be your biggest problem as far as leaving the line in a 2wd. There are two different ways you can go...

-a smaller downloader or module(about 100hp)-----cheaper way
-a bigger downloader(some can add as much as 230hp)------expensive way

A Smarty is my favorite, and you can choose either the Smarty JR, or Smarty CR(Sr) You can get a Smarty Jr for under $500 and not need any other mods to the truck (besides gauges).

Now the Smarty sr will make up to 230 more hp, buuuuuuuut you will need about $10k in parts to really be able to handle the Sr on the higher levels. You will need a built tranny ($5-8k), a turbo ($1500+), and a fuel system ($500+)

So if you see yourself wanting a really fast truck go with the Smarty sr, but if you don't want all the power the Jr will still make you very happy.

im thinking the smarty sr, but if i were to put a straight through muffler on it what would you recommend?

I really like MBRP mufflers, they have a really deep sound and minimal drone.[guitar]

Donaldson mufflers work very well also to get rid of the drone, and there's a few different lengths available...
