long term effects of timing rattle with a BD Torque Dog?

I've been learning a bit around here since installing a bully dog torque dog chip on my truck. It's a 2003 HO (not a 600) with a 6 spd.

The chip was previously on a 2003 SO truck, with no rattle. Now that it's on my HO, it rattles whenever I'm not in the throttle all the way. At low boost cruising with a trailer (5-10psi, 700 deg) it doesn't rattle. At full throttle and boosted up, it doesn't rattle (25 psi, 1100 deg). It rattles as soon as I punch it, then stops when it gets spooled up.

None of this seems like a big deal. My concern though is this: at mild throttle, call it 18 psi and 900 deg or so, it rattles audibly, you can hear it over the radio, mud terrains, etc making all kinds of noise, and unlike at full boost, it never goes away.

Is this going to kill my motor long term? I'm loving the power with the chip, and the mileage is nice. I spent this weekend cruising at 80 most of the time with 8000 pounds or so in tow, and was getting 14 mpg, compared to 11 that I would have been getting stock, if I could have maintained speed.

BTW, all of this was with the chip set for 100 hp. I haven't tried it at the lower power settings.

Thanks for any input

Mike

come awn!! I know I came out here with a simple question, but 63 views and no answers? You can read all over this site about WHAT timing rattle is, but other than an annoying noise, what is it? Will it F up my truck?

Im no expert, but I think the torque dog only does pressure. So I dont think that would be timing rattle imo. There was a thread on the North West Bombers sight that Don M showed pictures of injector tips, and how they wear with the high pressures that these sort of boxes create.

Possible detonation and it will kill a engine or a piston. I would get bullydog on the phone and see if that chip is right for your truck and problems you are having.

BTW chips are not made to be left at higher setting full time I know my banks chip make sengine run different at high setting and banks recommoned for short term.

Have you lowered number to see if any different.
