lift pump?

Will Very LOW fuel pressure while gettin on it all the time take a toll on the lift pump? Its not out of fuel just very low. thanks for any info

Starving the injection pump will hurt it

My lift pump was @ 2-3 PSI for the better part of 6-8 months until I replaced it with the Walbro ove rthe weekend.

Now, if you starve the INJECTION pump (CP3) you can and will hurt it which is a no no. The Walbro (or similar will set you back $350-$500). I paid $400 for my Walbro (the entire kit, fittings, hose, clamps, etc...)

So does that mean since my fuel pressure has gone all the way to zero a couple times then my cp3's not gonna be in very good shape. would gettin a modded one be a good idea now.

Under boost, mine would hit "0" as well (lift pump). My CP3 is putting out 20-21K PSI on stock setting. When I bump up my Rail Pressure on Level 1 on my TST, it will hit 26.5K PSI.

I have the Bd Lift Pump kit a Vulcan Big line kit. This is a great set up. I see 22-23 psi at idle and rarely ever see my pressure drop below 18 psi. This is a great kit, the oil pressure switch allows for easy starts. Easy install as well. As for noise, I here people comment on pumps being too loud. I can hear mine when standing out side next to the pump, (only cause I know its there basically). Other than that, it is not an issue. Paid $254 at Oregon Fuel Injection which is pretty much the going rate for this kit. Everything is included except a tubing cutter for stock lines if you still have them. The cost is less than $5 for this at Home Depot or Lowes.

You are going to love it. Knowing that I do not have to worry about starving the CP3 makes me sleep good at night[coffee]

Greenhornet1986 01-22-2007 08:38 AM

Chet, go with the Glacier Diesel Pump, I may even buy one for myself, just as a backup.

SSminnow 01-22-2007 09:38 AM

Glacier has outstanding support, and Richard is second to none in support and technical and help. You will NOT be desopointed. [guitar]

Oh yeah, he answer's the phone and will spend time talking to you if you have any questions. Thumps up!!!!!!![guitar] :) ;)

At what point, as far as added HP, do you need one one these? Thanks.

rstone 01-23-2007 11:33 AM

35" 05 I have the bd pump on my and it been pretty good so far my fuel pressure runs at 25 psi and when I get on it drop to 19 psi. Others buddy have the fass system it runs good to but my has a few more psi then them.

AlCorr 01-23-2007 11:58 AM

I have the BD Aux Lift Pump Kit and it runs good and it's not noise at all, plus the price is excellent at $254. I can say anything about the customer support, because like I said, the pump runs good.

AlCorr 01-24-2007 05:32 AM

All you guys with 03, 04 with the lift pump on the fuel filter. and you replaced it and it still works, please PM me, I'd like to pick up a spare. this is real, if it still works, maybe low fuel pressure, I'll pay the freight. I'd even pay the freight on a broken one just so I could that it apart and so why they are crap. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but there must be a reason why some only last 10,000 and some last 200,000 miles.

rich2500 01-24-2007 05:50 AM

in my opinion anything more then stock

rich2500 01-24-2007 05:53 AM

I'm also very happy with my bd set up 23psi at idle never falls lower then 18psi,been on my truck for over two years now and still works great

1Rodeoguy 01-24-2007 10:17 AM

Rich2500, in my opinion, 99's through 02's need them stock! Guages are a must when adding HP. With a fuel pressure guage installed, you can watch your pressure and determine when it would be an appropriate time to install this type of set up. I personally would install guages and and some sort of pusher pump before any other type of modification.

skynyrd 01-24-2007 01:25 PM

in my 2005 i added the edge juice and i could just feel that when i was at WOT the engine would kinda fall off i installed my pump and it seems not to have this problem any longer and at highway speeds it seems to take less effort for it to keep up speed

elirandolph 01-24-2007 08:17 PM

I was reading another thread about how loud the FASS pump is. Can anyone vouch for how loud a glacier or walbro is.

skynyrd 01-25-2007 02:37 PM

my walbro 392 its more like what walbro 392? i can't hear it in the cab you can't even hear it standing next to the truck. we had to put our heads under the truck just to hear if it was running or not. this pump is quite!!
