Lift install prob- upper control arm bolt

I have a 2006 2500 4x4 mega cab and am pulling off a 4.5" Fabtech lift and going to a 6" superlift.

When I installed the Fabtech the rear upper control arm bolt on the passenger side could not be removed because the exhaust was in the way. Per fabtech's instructions I cut the bolt off and replaced it with a new bolt inserted from outside of the frame.

Well now I need to get that bolt out to change arms and I cannot get any tools onto the nut inside the frame. It is inset slightly but there isn't enough room around the hole to get a wrench on it and the exhaust is so close that I don't have room for a socket even with a wobbley.

Any suggestions?

I know the exact bolt you are talking about. I fought with that one for about an hour when I did my lift. I ended up unbolting the exhaust from the turbo, undoing the exhaust hanger from the transmission (the one that has two bolts holding it on) and slid the exhaust as far back on the rest of the hangers as I could. I lifted the back of the trans. up also but I don't remember why I did that. Might have been for something else. Anyways, by sliding the exhaust you should gain enough clearance to get a socket in there. Hope this helps.

Yep, remove the exhaust. How did you tighten the bolt if you can't get a wrench on it now?

Good question. I think I used an offset head open ended wrench but can't find one in my toolbox now. I am thinking of cutting off an extra socket to make a 13/16 short socket.

Good luck!!
