leveling kits

Guys --

I have a 2004.5 4x4 CTD with 315(s) on 9" rims -- want to make the front end the same height as the rear. I have been told different things by different suspension shops here in the Houston area. I have heard everything from : 1. I need a 2.5" due to the weight 2. 2.0" is fine and 3. If I go with the 2.5" leveling kit, I will need a package that includes new shocks...

Any input here?

I got mine called a 2" but actually measured 2.5" from topguncustomz on ebay I had to get shocks from summit the only shocks they carry for a diesel truck are the skyjackers. the kit only took about an hour and a half for me and a friend to install. The truck actually rides better with the skyjackers the stock shocks are crap.

My truck is 2004 with 315 BFG's on H2 9" rims. I have a 2" revtek leveling kit in the front which made the truck level with no weight in the box. When I put my aluminum sled deck on (about 200 pounds) it looked like the front was high then the rear. So now I added an 1 1/2 inch block in the rear and it looks level. So 2" in the front is max with no weight, but 1 1/2" may be better overall.
As far as having to change you shocks, you don't have to change them as long as you do not go more than 2 inches. I did change mine to longer Rancho ones but only because I already have over 100,000 kms on my truck and thought it was time.
Check out my pictures and you will see how it looks with above completed. Hope this helps.

???????????

Guys --

I have been researching this forum for several days. I need some help here.

Specs -- 2004.5 Dodge Quad Cab 4x4 CTD with a heavy ranch hand front bumper (about 300 lbs) - 9" American Eagle rims with BFG 315 70 R17(s)

Now, the question is to do this RIGHT, do I need a 2" leveling kit with new shocks or a no new shocks? Do I need a 2.5" kit with shocks? I have been told different things from different shops. One shop tells me that I need the 2.5" kit with shocks and the other says that I need a 2" lift without... I am CONFUSED!

Input?

So you have no rubbing even without the leveling kit? Is that b/c of the backspacing on the rim?

I want to run 315 a/ts instead or 285s and the leveling kit would be nice but if I can put 315s on a set of Eagle Wheels and have no clearance problems without leveling it I would rather do that. I think I have seen maybe 3 trucks on DTR that have the Eagle 102s and 315s with no problems, but they all had leveling kits.

Any input here?

I recently (with the help of a friend) installed this kit.

http://www.hellbentsteel.com/dodge/dodge-lift-kit.html

I like it alot and leveled it out really nicely. Still uses the STOCK shocks. The stock shocks are not the greatest and I plan to eventually replace them, but the HBS kit does not require it. This kit is 2". A 2.5'' kit of any make may require a shock replacement....not sure.

If money were no object i would have gone with one of the KORE System upgrades.

http://koreperformance.com/welcome.htm

I just didn't have that kind of money to spend on it at this time and I really don't NEED it, I just wanted it. So I settled and spent the $109 for the HBS kit. Looks great IMHO. No pics in gallery of it yet though.
