Kill the kitty or kill the muffler

Well im going in to my custom exhaust guy on MON to get the truck sounding right but I cant decied on killing the kitty and putting on a High Performance muffler like MBRP or keeping the kitty and killing the muffler all together.

My 05 I had before had not kitty and race muffler and it had a little rasy sound to it not bad and it commanded attention when I rolled around town. I loved it

Since I live in worst air poluted county in all the UNITED STATES Im thinking of keeping the kitty and killing the muffler but I dont know how it will sound with just a cat and no muffler.

Any feedback or suggestions sound clips etc would be nice

-Chris

Id say go ahead and cut just the muffler off and keep the converter on there. Ive heard several 3rd gens with only the muffler cut off and they sound really good. Not much difference in in cab noise but its got a lot more tone and is louder out side. I say keep the kitty and kill the muffler. It sounds good and its legal too

MBRP only sells a cat back system for the 05's. they don't have a full 4" downpipe for anything. Don't cut too far forward or you'll be crying. I haven't look at the Cat before but the muffler on my 04' SO was a huge restriction. I like MBRP unit.

I have removed both and it has really grown on me, but for some advice I to would just remove the muff,it sounded really good that way and just like teddy bear said it will remain legal...

Personally I love the sound with the cat on, no muffler, and a Mega resonator.

The MBRP site did have a sound video of a truck taking off to get an idea of what the MBRP sounds like.
I did it to my 05 and left the cat in place.
Its got a nice throaty sound when idling and taking off and isnt much louder than stock when on the hiway.

Yea, what JR said... I love the sound of the missing muffler and MegaCab resonator. Just right in my opinion.

Take the cat off and leave the muffler or put a resonator on. That way you'll know it'll never plug up. A diesel with no cat puts out less air pollution than a car with a cat!

This thread will probably locked soon - we're not supposed to openly discuss removal/disabling/alteration of federally-mandated emissions reduction devices.

Of course, these modifications are well-known to exist.

Who cares... It's for off road use I'm sure. We have to say that everytime or what?

Ohhhh boy... let's not get carried away. He said he lived in the most polluted city in America, that's why I gave him that little tid bit. And if you want to get picky, lets all stop smoking and drinking diet sodas, because both have "cancer causing" things in them.
