alum. differential cover leaking
Hey all..!! Ive got an after market alum diff. cover on my truck. It seeps oil thru the inter back of the cover and out to the face, I know it is porous material and leaks thru, does anyone know if I can coat the inside of the cover with some type Hi-temp paint or other material to stop the bleeding through of the diff. fluid ??

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Have you contacted the manufacturer of this cover? If it is a bad casting, then perhaps they will give you a new one?

Drag racers used to use a GE electrical motor paint called Glyptol or something like that to paint the lifter valley on engines so oil would drain back quicker. Maybe something like that would work. No idea where to find it though.

If the manufacturer won't stand behind it I'd make sure everyone that will listen knows the story and the manufacturer's name. I have never seen an aluminum cover, diff, valve, etc, leak and I don't expect them to, except for a bad gasket.
It ain't slander if it's true.
