I think Scotty should stretch his neck a few inches so he will have one.

Actually, when you install a BHAF you must remove the stock air box. All the cold air from the front, under and fender are then exposed to the filter element of the BHAF. I didn't realize this untill I installed AK RAM's system on my rig. I will need to put a hole in the end of the canister to get the cold fender air but I am getting the cold air from the front and bottom with Brian's set-up. I just gotta say that I dont' think this system can be beat - with this system you get the most air of any filter (largest surface area), Clean air, cool air, no oil which means no inconsistency, and cheaper than any other system! Thanks AK, kinda glad it wouldn't work with your twins

"cone shaped two legged plastic thing" Hummm, I dont believe I got one of those with my RA III. Is that a problem if I'm missing it?

Theres a cone that the filter sits in that is placed inside the housing.

I call it a 'cone' because it is shaped and tapered just like a cone to shape air around the filter as opposed to air slamming into the flat end of the filter.

Its an integral part of the assembly. I am certain you would know if you did not have it.

email me and I can send you the assembly instructions that display it.

Another very good feature of this intake is that if it was to take on ANY moisture, it will not breakdown like paper filters.

Tell me this, does the BHAF have any possibility of warm air, or does it just have the ability to get cold air from the fender location? The bhaf's I've seen look similar to the K&N setup - just a big filter sticking out in the engine compartment, with maybe a heat shield. The scotty3 actually inserts into the fender air hole where the stocker does. Also , I don't think you're correct in assuming thta just because you have the largest filter/surface area you are getting the most air. I'm would guess that the ram air effect of the scotty3, especially on the highway - delivers more air than a larger filter without the ram air. I have no evidence to back that up, but I don't think it's so simple as bigger filter=more air.

My RamAir sure helped on EGT's - - that must tell you something. It spools up quicker and cut my time down when towing in my 50 to 80 mph tests. And I am stock other than the filter and a heavy size 12.
