Lightman ,do you know if the sub box is self powered or do you have to add an amp to it ? Thanks . Is it just one box? Think I saw crutchfield selling sub box that filled entire storage bin[both sides] with 2 10s.

Alltork, you can read about it on JL audio's web site. It's unpowered. JL boxes all include their 10w3 sub which is awesome, and sound really good. A lot of the other custom boxes like q logic etc sound like dog doody. Looks like someone bought the one on the link above already..

While I have no idea how it sounds, this sure looks pretty nice.

not to swipe the thread...has anyone thought of using the front center storage area? Real nice spot fra an 8" sub to bring in the higher frequencies. Just a thought. Anyone already done it?

JL makes a sweet sub box that mounts into the center console of 2nd gen rams. We aren't so lucky yet!

Check out Crutchfield.com. They have both single and dual-speaker enclosures, sold both with and without the speakers themselves.

Just dont buy a self amplified bass tube type box or anything from q-logic. They are garbage.

It's 100.00 plus 45.00 to ship.

Building a box for an 8" would be really simple in that center storage area.

MTX, in the past, did not have the sound quality of Rockford, JL, or some of the other big names. That was a long time ago. I personally would stick to JL or my personal favorite the Rockfords. Rockford may not be what the used to. I do know that JL is still top notch!

I have used Rockford, Cerwin Vega, MTX, Kicker, Alpine, Soundstream...never did try JL audio. I did hear a few and they were very tight and strong. Choose your box wisely. It will make or break the sound regardless of the sub you get. I would always call Rockford and tell them how much air space I had and what sub I had. They would tell me the aero port diameter and length I needed to tune for a specific frequency. They were good to deal with. FWIW JKE

I"ve found mtx's quality to be low. JL is top notch, you wont be disappointed. Polk audio also makes a nice sub. I had some rockford fosgates and they were mediocre at best.

Lightman - I forgot about Polk. They are good. Rockfords low end stuff is/was a little shoddy. You have to get the big dogs to get something nice. They are pretty expensive so, for the money, JL maybe the way to go for sound and quality.

I'm not backing MTX, I think there subs are worthless IMO. But they have that thunder box which looks cool, but if it's crap then never mind. I only use JL Audio now and have a 10' that I would like to put in a box, but have no box. I'd like to use the drivers side storage too, and have thought about building my own box but there are a lot of cuts. I'd really like to have a stealth box, but they're pretty high.
