Installed a Ceramic Coated ATS Exhaust Manifold Today
The pictures are coming...
I bought an ATS two-piece exhaust manifold a year ago and finally got around to having it installed. But before I did it, I had it ceramic coated - nice bright shiny silver (makes everything else under my hood look dirty). The ATS is much different than the old piece, with the paths directed to flow more toward the turbo, and feels like it is twice the weight. The old one is a simple symmetrical design. You know, I didn't expect much in a performance change...was I wrong. I would equate the feel in performance increase to feel I got when I cut out my cat and put on a performance muffler. I'm not overstating. The turbo spools faster making the truck feel jumpier. I'm sure I cut my fuel economy in half on the way home, being enticed by the newfound feel of the response. |
how did you manifold fit? I installed mine last nite and it was about 1/4" short. I had to drill out all the holes to get it to fit.
|
What was short? Was this a new manifold, 2 piece?
|
It fit without a problem, nothing was short.
Stupid card reader isn't working to pull the pics of my camera...[verymad] |
Remeber these are not only made to flow better but to expand and contract with temp changes eliminating stress cracks. If its cold its gona be smaller and not want to fit correct.
Hey Ed what did that do to your intake clearance? |
i look forward to seeing the pics. i plan to get a new manifold when i upgrade my turbo.
|
what was the egt decrease?
|
Good question...I'm not sure as I didn't have a probe in beforehand.
