Injector rattle
 

What does it sound like? Does it sound like a rod knocking on a gasser. My truck makes some noise ( exactly like a gasser when the rods knocks). And it makes it at low rpms when im not on it. I loaded the smarty and I seem to notice the noise more (level #1). This is in now way aimed at knocking the smarty down. The smarty is awsome!! I cant believe how good my truck reacts to it.

i know nothing about the smarty but you might be getting a timing rattle. mine will do it with the tst and bddl stacked.

Any other modifications done to the truck?

Does the sound go away at higher RPMs? Mine sounded like a gasser with bad gas from 1200-2000RPMs then cleared up.

are you running ULSD?

dump some power service fuel additive in it.

I had noise on stock power when running ULSD. Power Service cured it.

The dealership the other day told me do not run fuel additive in the 3rd gen. they said it was bad on the injector and CP3 pump. But I don't know I am just going by what they said.

my trucks totally stock other then a straight pipe..I live in Ca, so the fuel is low sulfur (500PPM I think). But its NOT the ultra low sulfur (5PPM) that I use.....So is the noise injector rattle? Im pretty sure my truck made it stock but it wasnt very loud.And why is injector rattle bad? What exactly is injector rattle? surely the injectors are not actually ratteling or is it the tips? Thanks

o sorry about that.. ya, its exactly like you explained.

You have 1 or more injectors that are bad inside. The tips aren't bad its the bosch parts inside:( You need to replace the bad injectors. I had the same noise and it turned out to be 2 bad injectors.

First off Ca has had ULSD since you bought your truck ..........sorry.

Secondly come by and I'll give you some of the product that will stop the rattle!

My Smarty did cause a small rattle but nothing to worry about i know marco has recently updated programs so this is minimized you might check the site to get a download...

did you get yours replaced by the factory at the time it happened? How many miles was on yours? Mines only got 7,ooo miles. Are there any other symptoms to bad injectors besides that noise? Dont know if this matters but my fuel pressure is about 9psi and my pyro seems to be reading in check.

I just added some PS to mine and it helped. But does PS just "cover" the noise, and does that mean the injectors are still bad?

If so, then that sucks. Injectors are expensive!

ive also herd negative things about adding stuff to your fuel. Im no cummins mechanic, its just what I have herd
