Injector??

Driving back too edmonton from work approx. 300 miles. Whipping along at 75 mph, and all of a sudden i get this sudden and harsh defuel. Check codes and i get P0148 HPCR Checksum error, P0251 CP3 regulator check sum, and P0602 Checksum. I clear the codes 2 hours later i get the same harsh defuel and same codes. I get too the city and I notice the truck is idleing a little rough and doesnt seem too have the power it did before, no diesel in the oil...yet.

Sound like and injector getting ready too go too diesel heaven?

P0602 Checksum

Thats the Smarty code...nothing wrong with having it.

Checked the relief valve on the rail?

If you don't mind me asking, who's nozzles are you gonna go with?

Do you have a rail pressure gauge? I'm trying to learn more about that Dr. Performance chip. I know its pressure and i know its supposedly progressional pressure.

Whichever nozzles barry recommends, He was hinting at the DDP's, I tow so he was gonna get a custom set made up. I do not have a rail pressure gauge, but a friend does and the dr.p is just that progressional (max he has seen is 26.5K, pressure is added not based on RPM, but based on engine load. It is extremely smooth, and on 118hp setting w/ no smarty it doesnt even smoke!! I was kinda dissapointed but some aren't. But definatly a strong addition, and really plays well with the smarty.

awesome thanks for the info.

So you aren't blaming on pressure box on the injector failure?

ramtd02 Jan 25, 2007 11:32 AM

nope....pressure didnt kill my injectors, i had a rattle and a knock since it was new, with the new injectors it isnt there anymore!

too many 06's have had injector problems too try and blame pressure. I know of 5 or 6 trucks now that have had a failed injector @ less than 30000 miles and none of them had any BOMBs.

My nozzles were cracked, not the injector, but chrysler replaced the whole kit and kaboodle on DC's advise?? Sounded fishy too me, but maybe they realize this isnt gonna stop unless they replace them all with the newer, better batch of injectors from bosch.

I was suggesting you blame pressure, just some people love to blame injector failure on pressure boxes. Glad it worked out for ya.

ppl who blame pressure are misinformed. yes, some pressure boxes may cause the damage, but mine were junk before i threw on any power adders, they just amplified the problem, bringing it too my attention!

In fact if i didnt have pressure, then it may have gone unnoticed, which would have been worse IMO.
