Infinity Amp and Aftermarket deck

How hard is it to install an aftermarket deck with the infinity system? Are you guys going around the amp or just installing the deck as you would in trucks w/o the infinity system?

Looking at putting a new stereo in an 06 2500...

Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I think you have to go around it. I wish I had done that before buying another stereo and amp to replace one that worked part time.

Its not hard at all, you use an interface (bout $100) which uses the factory amp... I put in an alpine dvd deck and the sound is phenomenal

exactly ! go to Best Buy or your local audio store and they will have one for you. make life alot easier that it used to be when you had to wire around the factory amp

For that year you need the canbus adapter. As far as the amp, there is a ton of different options. I think the best one is the factory amp bypass. You simply run wires from the factory amp to your deck, and use the better amp your new deck has, cost is like $40. I spent the extra time and ran new, better speaker wire, and pulled out the factory amp (not worth the hassle IMO). Another option is another bypass, but this uses the factory amp and not the one in your new deck, cost is $150 I believe, and is not as good of option IMO.

You CAN just wire it up, but without the CANBUS adapter your trucks electronics will act funny. If you don't get rid of one amp, you run the risk of blowing your deck, amp, speakers EVERYTHING.

So where can I get this canbus adapter?

So it is bypass wire's connecting the aftermarket deck to your speaker wires post factory amp? part #?

Crutchfield is good for telling you everything you need....

I should have known they had it!

If you buy your head unit from crutchfield, select that you have the 7 speaker system and it will show you the adapter you need to hook to the Infinity amp. Costs about $135 I think.
If you want to by pass the Infinity amp and install your own, select that you have the 4 speaker system and crutchfield will give you the head unit adapter for free. When you wire up the adapter, do not connect the "power antenna" lead as that is the lead used by Dodge as the remote on for the Infinity amp. That way it will not come on anymore. Wire your amp's remote on directly to the head unit's wire.
