idling-refueling with fass installed
will be installing my fass unit this weekend. while reading a couple of posts on another site talking about fass and airdog. it said you must shut of your truck if you have fass or it will spew out diesel fuel!, but this doesn't happen if you have an airdog-you can idle and refuel, without spewing diesel fuel all over yourself! to all you fass guys-is this true? must you shut the truck off to refuel? thanks.

Yeah, I read that too along with the part about not putting the plastic bag over my head as a toy. When Idling all fuel is being returned to the tank via the overflow line into the tank which is also a vent. While filling with it running it is much harder to fill to the top as the vent is having diesel pumped into it. If you were filling to the nozzle it is possible to overflow and get backsplash. If your nozzle didn't have a backsplash protector and you weren't wearing your saftey glasses your pocket protector could get filled with diesel. In winter I never fill to the nozzle as its cold and it takes to long and I typically leave it running especially at full serve. ks

Our old kits were like that. But about a year and a half ago, we started putting the return in the filler neck rather than the Vent Line.......i know this is an old thread....but just added to the information.....

Our return moves a lot of Volume.....the excess fuel that is not used by the engine....so yes...the stock return like would be restrictive. Plus ease of installing.....i can put in a FASS return line in 3 mins if i take my time! I dont think that can be said for the other......
