I'd like to see what mpg other Mega's are getting (18.5 on last tank)

Just ran 600 miles off of one tank in my Mega.

I was getting horrible fuel mileage (15.5 on the hwy at 75) when I realized the dealership that was servicing my truck didn't change the fuel filter at 15k oil change. At 20k, I decided to service my truck myself. Put Amsoil synthetic in with a fleetguard filter and changed the fuel filter.

I got 17.2 on the first tank after the change. Then 16.5 on a hard driven tank. Then 18.5 on this last tank.

I run my Smarty on SW3, which gives me about between 1.5 and 2 mpg.

I just topped 20 on the last tank running 62 mph, but I think that's because the station got a load of straight #2. I was getting 18 all winter, 17 mixed driving short runs (wife). I have the 3.73 rear gears. My goal is 22 mpg, and I'll do it .... one way or another.... BTW I use 16oz of PS every fill.

I avg around 16 in town and 17 hwy @ 70-75. 9-10 when towing.:(

Lost Lake,

Is that hand calculated and completely stock???? Pretty darn good.

jonesm8 03-27-2007 12:49 PM

There's got to be more megacab's out there keeping track of their mpg

ptgarcia 03-27-2007 01:05 PM

I get crappy mileage - I'm guessing somewhere around 12 mpg.

jonesm8 03-27-2007 01:08 PM

pt,

are you an aggressive driver, idle often?

doznfire 03-27-2007 01:41 PM

17.9 according to the overhead with 295 toyo mt's and the smarty on level 3. It is doing a little better than that I think because I haven't adjusted for the height of the tires yet.......

Last trip to ski up and over a couple of passes and back and I ended up with just a hair over 20 MPG.

Neither, but I do about 90% city driving, and most trips are under 10 miles.

Megas are special trucks, they get a completely different mileage than anyother truck I guess.

I guess alot of people must coast down hill every where they go.[dummy] I get in my truck and drive where ever I need to and pull what ever and never look back. My truck hand calculated has never gotten better than 14mpg and has gotten as little as 8mpg. But next time I'm around any mountains (not likely in Florida) I will check the economy as I coast down hill.[laugh] [laugh]

carharttfarmer 03-27-2007 03:45 PM

i get 16 to 17 with 50 50 city highway driving
13 to 15 with the traler on but most of my driving isnt over 20 miles away
