I was scared yesterday with the BHAF!!
 

It was pouring down rain so hard I could hardly see. That wasn't the problem though. What was scaring me was all the standing water I had to drive through. Everytime I saw the water flying up over the hood I thought about my poor new BHAF with no Outerwear yet.(It is on order though).;)
In the end all worked out fine and I made it home safely. I'm going to have to make some kind of shield too. I ended up attaching a floor mat to the truck under the filter to protect it a little. It actually helped too. Mcgyver in action..;)

I've decided to take mine off for winter driving for the same reasons. I have the Outerwears cover, but salt, slush, and road sand get up under the hood in the winter and I'm worried about possible ingestion. Sometimes after the 40 mile commute on a snowy day, the front of the truck is plastered with frozen slush, and the engine bay is soaked.

I'll pay special attention to mine more often.

I really don't like the way the stock airbox seals, or rather, doesn't seal.

I guess if I see a lot of moisture, I can throw the stocker back in with a little duct tape sealing wrap.

Or, macguyver up a rubber drape around the BHAF so it's protected.

Well you've already got the Outerwears so you may be set phox. Yours is also towards the back of the engine and probably doesn't get as much spray as it gets up front. I'll be buying or making some kind of shield in the very near future..
