How Trick Can You Get?
I have a PowerMaxCR on the way, and will modify intake, exhaust, turbo and transmission. My wife is voicing concerns about the quality of the ride after modifications. She does not want a rough engine...rough idle, excessive noise (I will get a quiet flowthrough exhaust.)
How much can you do before you start getting a rump-de-rump?
I guess you can just set the PowerMaxCR on 4/4 or so and have a virtually stock engine. Just wanted to find out where the crossover point is. With the number of guys on this board who have varying degrees of mods, there should be some knowledge.
I rode in an acquaintance's 12 Valve that was pulling 676 Rear Wheel HP. It idled extremely rough (that may have been because he had the timing advanced too high), and the engine was not smooth running - lots of drone and harmonics.
So how far can you go and retain stock run and ride characteristics?

On my 01, I had an Edge Comp on there and when it was on the 100hp setting, it idled SMOOTHER than it did when it was stock. I think you'll be fine with those mods. I'd say that once you start to crack like 450-500hp, then you might run into issues with rough idle and things like that. This is just my OPINION and take it with a grain of salt since that's about the extent of my knowledge on the 03's.
P.S. Fill in your signature so we know what type of truck you have.
