I just did a quick install so i could move my truck before I deployed(the stocker must have been told about murphy's law!). Currently it's on the framerail between the front and rear doors. The "whirring" sound is quite noticeable form in the cab. I was looking for mounting ideas so I couldn't hear it from in the cab when I return. I will be getting a tool box in the bed when I come home, and a buddy suggested putting it in there. Just looking for ideas.

 

you can hear it with the engine off thats for sure...but once the engine is running it's not bad at all. imho
you could basically mount it where ever you want.

 

Someone mounted theirs under the bed on one of the crossmembers. Not sue who but do a search they have a few pictures with it. Putting back there might help out with the noise issue.

 

that was me

i dont here it at all except when i first turn the key on. if its very loud you may have a leak on the suction side. supposedly they are really loud when they suck in air.

 

I'll have to look into the leak idea this weekend.
