With all you guys looking at other filter mounts I went back to my receipt and checked the price of just the mount from amsoil (I used a local hydraulic shop for fittings and hoses... cheaper)... and just the filter mount is $50.70 on prefereed/dealer pricing... so thats only a couple bucks more than the others I have seen and you can use the amsoil filters, which from what I have seen have the best ratings.... just my .02 (yes I use amsoil in everything I own, so I may be biased)

The LF777 looks pretty promising also. It is going to need a restriction put in line because the filter flows 2 GPM and from my research you want about 1 GPM so you dont overtax your oil system. I like that it will add about 2 more quarts of oil to the system also, which helps too. Luberfiner makes a mount PN# A777 for it and can be found for around 30$ and the filter should be around 15$. I was thinking of a horizontal mount on the frame since the filter is so big.

Here is what it would look like.
"how-to" for oil bypass-passinstall003.jpg

Ya know, a more intelligent person would use a center punch and poke a hole in it to drain off the oil before changing it. Give me a call when you get a chance, I have a proposition for you.

NO you pervert ....... something else.

matego is that a777 a luberfiner # or did you mean fleetguard , i am really liking the luberfiner lf9750 it adds one gallon to the system and mounts perfect on the frame it will probabally last for 200,000 to 300,000 miles before it restricts enough to change i think that 777 will get a 100,000 or more and for $15 that is not bad

I have been working on this little filter project just about all night. I called Luberfiner (LBF) because we distribute them, along with Fleetguard (FG). A fg-lf777 is rated at 99.xx% effic. at 30 micron and 98.xx at 10 micron. The similar lbf-lfp777b rates the same. For the same filter base they make a better filter fg-lf3654 which is 99.xx @ 10 micron and 97.xx at 5 micron, the lbf-lfp8642 is similar. They all fit the same base and the second one I mentioned is the "better" of the 2 but also costs more. Now, look at Luberfiners new Z-Guard filter LFP9750 that needs base LMB741. It is hella expensive but is supposed to filter to below 1 micron and stabilize acids in the oil. http://www.luberfiner.com/products/lubefilters.html

Now, you may be asking why they only rate them at a given micron. There is a lot that goes into rating filters and just because it does not show a 2 micron rating does not mean it will not trap it. It may only trap 50% of it but since it is a bypass it is not as critical to get it all the first time. Retention is very important as well.

I disagree on the rating, I think you need a 2 micron filter on a HPCR, with all the soot that the HPCR produces, especially 04.5+, the finer you filter absolute the better. Even with the amsoil 2 micron filter my oil is black as the night 2 minutes after changing it, thats a lot of submicronic soot loading. 50% efficancy doesn't mean it will take two passes to catch it all, it means it will only catch 50% of whats in the oil... Yes the amsoil filter is more money, but it has a 2 micron absolute rating, just like their full flow filters are more money but they have a 15 micron absolute rating, thats some **** good filtering...

My dad has his bypass in the same spot as mine, pictured above, and he says it doesn't spill as long as the truck sits overnight.... I will probably try it once, and if that doesn't work go with the punch hole method... I would love to not have to take my skid off every time.

you guys are too funny, use the amsoil bp80a mount ($14.50), eabp90 filter ($36.75) 98.7% at 2 micron, and then add your lines, amsoil swivel fitting and stant #1111 valve cover cap and be done with it for under $100.

Whats the BP80A used for?

And I would use at least the EaBP 100, and the 110 if you can fit it.

the bp80a mount is just a universal mount, not a amsoil dealer not sure. the bp80a mount is only cast aluminum and amsoil does not reccomend using anything bigger than the 90 for fear of cracking the mount. I just picked up one of these mounts and putting on a chevy 1500 with 4.8 v8. So if your looking to mount a bigger filter your better off buying the bmk-11 kit or just the mount and bigger filter.

Does anyone know how big the hole is for the restriction? I thought I read somewhere you need a 1/4 in. hole but I want to know for sure.
