Question How much PSI in toyo A/T 285/75/17

How much should I put in there?

I use it as a commuter and to get the dirtbike(s) out to the track on the weekend.

I told the tire guy to put 55 in the front and 45 in the rear... It looks alright... but who knows how they will wear...

And whats the minimum psi for driving in sand?

There were several threads not too long ago about using chalk on your tire...

Driving forward, and checking the tread footprint...try a search on it?

FWIW, I have always run my tires at their max. psi, cold...

Never had any strange issues with tires, personally...and they always wear well...

You should like those Toyo's.

They've treated me well so far!

i would recommend staying with the factory settings 50spi up front and 70 in the rear. Also, if you have a choice, pay the few extra $$ for nitrogen, or if you can get your hands on some nitrogen. Nitrogen isnt affected by temperatures and stays at a constant pressure

If you go to the desert alot DO NOT waste the extra money on Nitrogen (unless youve got a fat wallet) Most likely youll be airing up and down alot since its the season for desert riding in SoCal. When I lived in San Diego, I would air down to around 25psi or so when driving in the sand. Our trucks are so heavy theres no need to air down past that unless your cruising the deep sand like at Glamis. I always went to Ocotillo wells or Borego Springs and with that combo of hard pack mixed with soft stuff 25 or 30 psi always worked well. Once back on the street I would run 65psi in the front and 55psi in the rear. Doesnt make any sense to me to run 70psi in the rear unless youve got a real heavy load (alot heavier that a couple dirtbikes).

Factory is 50 front 40 rear light load and 60 front 70 rear heavy load. Thats what the my door stiker says. Now thats with factory tires. Now I'm running with Nitto's Terra E rated 285/75/17.I'm running 62 front and 52 rear no load and I'll bump them up to 65-70 rear when pulling my toyhauler. Now with that said I have 30k on them and I just had them rotated at Discount and they said I still have 40-60% tread left and couldn't believe how good they looked tread wise and I'm not easy on them (Smarty). Now my freind had the Toyo version and got only 25k-30k and had to replace them. But they were D rated.
So just try differant psi's and check tires and see how there wearing and then adjust if need be.

Apparently I'm the odd man out. I've got 77 psi all the way around. However, I've got a lot weight in the back right now between my aux. fuel tank, tool box with tire chains ++, and 700 lbs of winter weight. I have 285/70's.

Exclamation

Update:

drove 15k w/

55 rear --> more wear in the middle... no good
65 front --> even wear... ok

I rotated the tires and put 60 in the front ones (old rears) and 45 in the rear (old fronts)...

I guess 2 dirtbikes and some random stuff is not enough weight in the back...
