How much can the 48re handle?
I have an '06 with the 48re in it. I was wondering at what hp lvl I need to start transmission upgrades. It is a daily driver that is never raced and very rarely used for towing (twice in 17,000 miles). Right now I have an aFe stage II intake, 5'' turbo back exhaust, Dr. Performance stage III module, and 100hp injectors supposed to arrive on Monday.

ahh your in windsor! I would go with a tq converter and valve body. If you plan to throw alot of power at it, do boosted launches, or sled pull you will need a full built tranny with billet parts.

Any suggestions where to get them from? I have been looking at Suncoast and Goerend. I always hear good things about Goerend but the Suncoast VB looks real nice.

everyone told me this: converter/ valve body, flexplate(stocker is thin metal), input shaft. I know a good converter makes a huge difference. I have a full billet trans and done it all at one time. you wont regret upgrades. you are close to ats but I think their transmissions are way overated. you may talk to some other companies first and see what they can do for you. hts, dtt & goerend seem to be the good ones. guys talk good about all these builders

You could also get a suncoast tranny from elite in pueblo.

Elite!!! But that is run by that Cook guy with a Ford whos got a bro....Oppps. Just messin with ya. If the shop is willing to give good products back by good service...then that is the place to be. In my world.... if you were buying things one at a time. Transmission temp gauge, Flexplate, VB, Torque Converter, Input shaft. Like they said shop around and you'll find someone who is a willing to step up. I agree that if you are towing heavy in the mountains...stock just won't last long.
