How much boost?

How much boost can you be running before you need to install head studs??

40? 45? and at what point does the stock holset turbo become unreliable? 35 or so??
Thanks

i've been running 47psi since july without any problems yet. allow the motor to completely warm up before giving it much throttle.

i ran my stocker to 40 psi for 20k miles, and when i replaced it, it had alot of wear.

the stocker is relaible too about 35 psi, after that increased wear will occur, headstuds......you will get many opinions on that one, anywhere from 45-55 psi. My cummins rep tells me @ 50 it should hold if engine is warmed up properly, and some may hold 55. However som may only hold 45, depends on cylinder pressures at the time!!

I ran 62psi for ever, the only reason i put studs in because the motor was apart and the stock stretch bolts were way stretched

50 is what i was told.

stock turbo is good til the low 40's IMO. i ran 20k with 43-48psi daily, 32psi for the previous 35k and my turbo compares evenly to a turbo off of a truck with 15,000 on the clock.

Thanks for all the input. How many psi can you expect to lose if your boost guage tube has a leak? i ask cause i noticed my compression fitting didn't seat perfectly and now i've got to replace it.

that is a good question, I think it would depend on how bad it was leaking

I just replaced it, so we will see. Unfort. i won't be able to tell for a couple of days since it's currently snowing But i'm hoping for a jump, i was hitting the high thirties before it would start screaming. Hopefully i'll be in the mid 40's now that it's fixed w/ the MP8 on full that is.
