My dad just bought an 04, and he was wanting some more power from it. I was just wondering how to tell whether it is an 04 or an 04.5, and what kind of power enhancements do you guys recommend?

 

On the valve cover will be a label. If it says "600" or "610" series then he has the 04.5 with the higher output engine. I think the 04 motor is a "305" series for 305hp, instread of torque. Dumb if you ask me, but that is marketing.

 

If I'm not mistaken, you can also tell by looking at your exhaust. If you have a cat you have an 04.5, if not it's an 04. Of course this only holds true if the exhaust was not modified.

Mine says "325" in the rated horsepower box, nothing about "600" on there.

 

the 600 is your torgue....as in my 06 is 325 hp and 610 ftlbs torgue.

 

I have an '04 and it shows the 305 HP on the tag on the valve cover. Nothing about the torque. FYI.

 

one more vote that says 325 advertised HP means it is an 04.5. ( where your tps is has nothing to do with it)
